ORDERING BESPOKE
INITIAL CONSULTATION
The first step is a conversation about the style, fit and design of your garment. This meeting can include looking at inspiration photos, trying on sample garments, or simply talking about possible cloth choices: weight, color, and fiber content. The first meeting can be in person or virtual; however, ideally your measurements would also be taken at this time.
Measurements
It’s important for your tailor to take an extensive list of body measurements in order to produce the most accurate draft possible. In addition, measurements can be taken of sample garments that have the same fit or style as the ones you want made. The more information your tailor has at the beginning, the more successful the first fitting will be.
Mock-up fit
There are instances when your tailor will recommend doing a mock-up or “toile” fitting of the garments before cutting them in the final cloth. Doing this allows them to make more modifications of the pattern without risking a recut. Instances when this might happen are if there is a limited amount of cloth available, if the cloth has plaids or stripes, or if the style and design needs to be more clearly defined on the body.
First Cloth fit
Since all cloths act differently, it is essential for every garment to have a first fitting, even if multiples are being made from the same pattern. A first fitting allows for the most changes to be made, and the draft to be perfected for additional future orders. Sometimes the first fitting will be a “pocket fitting” where more progress has already been made than in traditional first fitting. This is a good option for orders based on a preexisting draft.
Final Fit
Depending on the complexity of the garment, the second fitting might also be the last before the garments are delivered. Occasionally a second fitting has more changes than expected, and your tailor will want to see you again for a final fit or “check fit” to make sure everything is perfect before shipping it out.
Delivery
We pride ourselves with having clients from all over which means that once your garments are finished, and have passed our quality control, they can be picked up or delivered locally, or shipped to your home anywhere around the world.
